Resentment is a feeling of anger at some perceived injustice, and it's an emotion we all feel now and then. But when resentment persists over a prolonged period, it can make us bitter and twisted, sapping our energy and reducing our quality of life.

The pre-talk looks at what resentment is and what causes it, sympathizing with how unpleasant it can be to carry these feelings around. It helps the client to realize why resentment is so harmful: unlike anger expressed in the moment, resentment has no power to actually effect a change in circumstances. Instead, it simply festers beneath the surface, gradually eroding our wellbeing.
As the induction begins, the client is guided to breathe deeply and relax every part of their body. Very early on the suggestion is made that there's a change the client wants to make within themselves, setting the scene for the trancework to come. The client is asked to inhabit their observing self to see themselves relax ever deeper, then to merge with that self and surrender to the relaxation.
The trancework begins with a metaphorical story that shows that as easy as it is to fall into despair at the injustices around us, it's also possible to use these injustices as a force for good - to let them guide us to act in ways that can improve the lives of ourselves and others. Many aspects of this approach are explored, building the client's mental image of what it means to harness negative feelings in a positive way.
The client is also encouraged to access a past version of themselves from before the resentment began, as well as a wiser, calmer future self, to experience what it's like to live without resentment. The future pacing extends even further to a future self who has been living without resentment for many years and is now in a place of true wisdom and calm.
