The pre-talk emphasizes how important love is to humans: none of us can get through this life alone. This is used as a basis for reassuring the client that the very fact that they are here means they are loved, and that feeling loved is simply a matter of learning to recognize and appreciate that on a subconscious level.

The induction gently guides the client to relax into the experience, releasing any expectations and allowing themselves to be fully present. They are encouraged to rest deeply as the sounds and sights of a pleasant memory are elicited, instilling a warm sense of wellbeing.

The early part of the trancework runs through a series of evocative metaphors representing release and relaxation - a pebble gliding through the water to rest, the unravelling and loosening of knots, and the casting off of heavy armour. The client is now in a lighter place, ready to absorb the suggestion of taking on new, more balanced perspectives and approaches.

Gentle embedded commands begin to help the client open themselves up to feeling loved. Rather than pushing the client to immediately recognize their own intrinsic worth, a therapeutic story allows them to start to absorb the idea that there is a 'deeper core' to everyone that is valuable and worthy of love.

Finally, the client is encouraged to feel the presence of those who love them, using the metaphor of love 'flowing into' them 'like a glowing light' to evoke a more visceral experience. Another string of embedded commands guides the client to become more and more open to this sense of feeling loved, allowing them to truly internalize it.
